An Engineering Marvel of the World: The Panama Canal
ur Panama Canal, an engineering marvel built more than 100 years ago is definitely the main atrraction in Panama. This the shortest route between the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean and it can be explored in 3 different ways:
1. The Locks:
The locks are viewpoints located on each side of the Canal.
What do you see at the locks? You can see how the vessels are lower or raised depending on the direction that is coming from. It is awesome!
The Miraflores Lock is on the Pacific Side and are the closest ones to Panama City.
The new movie in 3D narrated by Morgan Freeman is terrific.
Expect crowds because is the #1 attraction in Panama.
The Agua Clara Lock is on the Atlantic Side and is the new one. To get there it takes about 1 hr depending upon traffic.
You may spend 1 -2 hours there.
Recommended for big kids and adults
2. A Private boat at the Gatun Lake/ Monkey Island Tour
Our favorite option becasue we are right next to ships transiting the waterway. How cool is that?
The best part is when we look for wildlife: crocs, birds, monkeys, lizards and pretty much anything that moves.
The right amount of time: only 4 hours, exciting and entertaining.
Recommended for all ages
3. A Partial or full transit through the Canal
This is a group tour on a Ferry*
You navigate south or northbound passing through 2 of the locks: Pedro Miguel and Miraflores.
Only on this tour you witness from a ship perspective, the opening of the the gigantic doors at the locks.
Be ready to spend 5-6 hours on a Partial Transit or 9-10 hours on a full Transit.
Only available Friday, Saturday and 1 Sunday of the month.
Totally recommended for those who have dream with going accross this waterway.

Partial or Full transit through the Panama Canal
This is a once in a lifetime experience that would allow you to witness how to Panama Canal operates. It is is the ultimate dream for those wanting to go through the Panama Canal Locks.
This option is only available Friday, Saturdays and 1 Sunday per month.
Important: This is not a private tour. This is a group tour with many more guests on a ferry
The Panama Canal partial transit tour begins with the ferry entering the Miraflores Locks where the vessel is raised 16 meters above sea level in two distinct steps. You will then enter Miraflores Lake, which is a small artificial body of fresh water that separates Miraflores from Pedro Miguel Locks. Next, it will enter Pedro Miguel Locks, which is the second set of locks on the Pacific side, and here the vessel is raised again, in one step. After exiting the Pedro Miguel Locks, you will be able to view the new Centennial Bridge which crosses over the Canal.
You will then enter the south end of the Gailard Cut where the Chagres River flows into the Canal. The Gailard Cut (also known as Culebra Cut because its curves resemble a snake) is one of the main points of interest for visitors because it was carved through the Continental Divide and this section of the Canal is full of history and geological value.
You will disembark at the Gamboa Dredging Division where you will board motor coaches for a 45-minute ride back to the Flamenco Marina.
Keep in mind, the starting time is confirmed in the evening of the day before your tour depending upon the schedule of the Ships passing through the Canal (we have no way to know it before).
To reserve this tour your request must be processed at least one week prior to your arrival and full payment plus taxes is required.

- Partial 5-6 hours
- Full 8-10 hours
What is included?
